Songs of Earth / Fedrelandet, Norway's Oscar submission for Best International Film 2023 at the 96th Academy Awards, was launched with 10 outdoor screenings across Norway, from south to north, at 11:00 PM on August 5, 2023.
Sail-in Cinema at Stangholmen Lighthouse in Agder, At the roof of the Norwegian Opera & Ballet in Oslo, in Jostedalen with a view of the Nigardsbreen Glacier, Ljøen in Stranda, Trivselsskogen in Sandane, Gjendesheim in Jotunheimen, Stokkøya in Trøndelag, Reine in Lofoten, Oldedalen in Nordfjord, and inside Andersgrotta in Kirkenes.
Here is the film about the setup and volunteer work that made this experience possible for so many. The locations were chosen by a jury consisting of Speranza Film partners WWF World Wildlife Fund, The Norwegian Association for Outdoor Organisations and the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT).
Technical services were provided by Bygdekinoen, Konsertsystemer, and Ottalyd. Speranza Film and NFD received support from businesses, municipalities, and organizations so that the screenings could be free for the public.
